Exceptional Healthcare

Peripheral Arterial Disease

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is a common circulation problem in which the arteries that carry blood to the legs or arms become narrowed or clogged.

This interferes with the normal flow of blood, sometimes causing pain, but often causing no symptoms at all. The most common cause of PAD (also known as Peripheral Vascular Disease, or PVD) is atherosclerosis, often called “hardening of the arteries.

Angioplasty & Stenting - Interventional radiologists pioneered angioplasty and stenting, which was first performed to treat peripheral arterial disease. Using imaging for guidance,  our MAS  specialists thread a catheter through the femoral artery in the groin to the blocked artery in the legs. They then  inflate a balloon to open the blood vessel where it is narrowed or blocked. In some cases, this is then held open with a stent, a tiny metal cylinder. This is a minimally invasive treatment that does not require surgery, just a nick in the skin the size of a pencil tip.

Atherectomy - An atherectomy is a procedure in which our experts  insert a specialized catheter into a blocked artery to remove a buildup of atherosclerotic plaque from within the vessel. The catheter contains a sharp rotating blade, grinding bit, or laser filament, as well as a collection system that permits removal of the plaque from the wall of the vessel, and collection or suction of any resulting debris.

Genicular Artery Embolization

Genicular Artery Embolization (GAE) is a nonsurgical , minimally invasive procedure for patients with Osteoarthritis . GAE can help with eliminating knee pain and inflammation which are the main contributing factors of Osteoarthritis knee pain . GAE procedure is performed in an outpatient setting , where our interventional radiologist navigates a small catheter into the artery of interest and deploys small particles. Reducing the blood supply to the artery will reduce the inflammation and pain caused by osteoarthritis.

Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are not only unsightly, but they can also be quite painful, causing throbbing, aching, cramping and even burning sensations. We  offer minimally invasive procedures that can treat varicose veins and provide lasting relief.

Radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive procedure to treat the underlying cause of varicose veins.

Once a vein wall becomes diseased, the vein becomes stretched and enlarged. The valves within the walls that control the flow of blood through the vein become damaged as the wall becomes more and more stretched. The only alternative is to re-route blood flow through healthy veins by closing the veins, painlessly and easily, using radiofrequency energy.
